  • Ollie’s

This morning, Anneli and I decided we would go downtown to Ollie’s Bakery to study. In case you haven’t been, Ollie’s is situated at the corner of Marshall St. and Brookstown Ave., right next to the old Mary’s. According to several online reviews, most people seem unhappy with the customer service they receive there. I guess Anneli and I lucked out, then, because the heavyset man who served us our pastries did so very kindly. And thanks to a Groupon gift certificate, we were able to enjoy two wheat rolls, a fruit muffin, a chocolate brioche, and a loaf of multigrain bread for just $10.

Ollie’s is a quaint, bustling little shop and a top-notch study spot. The classical music and customer chatter offer a pleasant soundscape, and the brioche is a particularly effective brain food. All in all, it’s a nice place to spend a Saturday morning.
