Parkour on the Quad?
Today I saw something that took me by surprise. I was walking by Carswell with Kate Lesnewich when she motioned to a group of three guys in hoodies walking along the wall outside of Greene. “What are those guys doing on the wall?” she said. I had no idea, but before I could reply, one of them launched himself off the wall and performed a sideways flip onto the ground. It was hardcore parkour, and it was happening right in front of me.
Kate, if you’re reading this, you’ll remember that you asked me to tell you if they did any other cool stuff. They did. One of them did about 15 handsprings across the grass and finished them off with a backflip; another guy did a front flip off of the little seating area below the pit, rolled out and pulled a sweet ninja spin-kick. It was awesome. I watched them go at it for about 5 minutes, but since I was the only one around and I was just standing there about thirty feet away, I felt a little awkward. So I left.
I don’t know who they were, these mysterious hoodie-clad free runners, but I did notice the letters “VF” on their jackets. I can only guess that these stood for “Very Fly.” In any case, whoever they are, I hope they stop by more often.
